India’s First Skills on Wheels for Service Industry

In today's age of globalization and technically mutated world, skill building and enhancement are important weapon to boost the efficiency and the quality of services for the economic growth. Today, India is one of the youngest nations in the world with more than 62% of the population in the working age group (15-59 years), and more than 54% of the total population below 25 years of age. The opportunity to reap the benefits of “demographic dividend” has to be utilized only with the skilled workforce. Evidently, apart from meeting its own demand, India has the potential to become the worldwide hub for outsourcing skilled manpower.

To make India the skill capital of the world, the school curricula needs to go through a dynamic change. Skill development should ideally begin at the age of 14 years, from the ninth standard, while in school. Integration of skill development and education is essential for skilling to take wings. Skill development will remain a dream if carried out in isolation through centers alone. It has to be imparted in schools alongside academics.

Empowering North India with Skills Based Education

With globalization, the demand for skilled and multi skilled workers has increased. In this context, there is a critical need for quality skill development and training. Therefore, the innovative concept of Skills on Wheels for North India need-based programmes for the different age groups which can be the communication or language skills, personality development skills, behavioral skills, job-employability and entrepreneurial skills.
